The best bike path in Minneapolis is the Midtown Greenway, from the Mississippi River west to St. Louis Park. It even has a bikeshop right on the trail, near Chicago Ave.

The Rockford Bike path, you can take this literally for 30 miles round trip. That is just the Rockford bike path, it also connects to the Greater Illinois Bike path. This path goes through neighborhoods, and scenic parks all along the beautiful Rock River. There are shops for eating downtown and along the way start is right behind the local YMCA in Rockford. http://maps.google.com/maps?li=d&hl=en&f=d&iwstate1=dir:to&daddr=200+Y+Blvd,+Rockford,+IL+61107+(YMCA+of+Rock+River+Valley:+YMCA+of+Rock+Valley+ID+Pennock+Branch)&geocode=CWwl_HiENY1XFXMehQIdXLyw-g&iwloc=1&dq=ymca+in+rockford+il&cid=1947180308468696376&ei=zgPRSa_vFYW4M6vg_Cc

Since I am not a biker this might not be the best in my city of Florence, but it does sound like a nice ride on a great spring day. It is called the Rail Trail, is about 2 miles long. Motorized wheelchairs can maneuver the last part on paved lanes. Pets on leash are welcome. Directions: From the junction of 1-95 and I-20 in Florence, drive east on David McLeod Boulevard (Business Spur I-20) and turn right on West Palmetto Street (US 76). Drive 2.5 miles and turn right onto Old Ebenezer Road. Drive .5 mile to the sharp left curve in the road, and turn right at the drive. The parking area is at the post-and-rail fence. Parking is also available at the McLeod Fitness Center. You can also access this trail from a great bike shop in town. From Bicycle World on Palmetto Street a boardwalk was constructed over the swamp. So bike on in and give it a try.

appproximately 20 miles north of pittsburgh off route 28 north exit 17 and route 356 south is a small town called freeport at the head of the freeport/butler trailway. it is an old railroad line that ran from freeport to butler,pa that has been renewed along the buffalo creek watershed and through local farmlands. there are rest areas along the way where you can enjoy the sound of the creek over the falls, observe the soaring eagles, blue herons or deer. very restful.

Nice ones are the greenway and the New Santa Fe trail. These are off road but the trail is good. For mountain bikers, the Falcon trail on the US Air Academy (need ID to enter) and any of the trails at Palmer Park are good. Palmer's are short. Falcon is a 13 mile loop.

The Wabash Cannonball bike trail in Oak Openings Metro Park is the best bike trail. There are also many hiking trails and ones suitable for rollerblading.

My friend and I just rode up the Provo River Trail through Provo Canyon. It is a paved trail that was just gorgeous with the Fall leaves. You can start at any park. We started at Canyon View Park and went towards Vivian Park. Next time I will start at Nunns Park because of time constrants.

Near Wilkes Barre there is a state park that contains so much beauty. Ricketts Glen State Park has 23 waterfalls (some very high) within a 7 mile hike. There is a well maintained trail that takes you beside them but in places it is steep and sometimes wet. With the right shoes and some caution this hike is the most gorgeous one in our state, very lush and green and worth every mile to get there.

I love riding the Natchez Trace. Nice rolling hills, very little traffic, great scenery. I am hoping to do a multi-day trip on it some day!
