I'm starting out slowly - running for 10 seconds and walking for 50 seconds for one-hour. I had shin splints yesterday, so I only did this for 15 minutes and then worked out at Curves for one-half hour. I feel very confident that I can be in shape to run the 10k in September. I am really hoping my Granddaughter will join me.

My dream/goal is to start walking and eventually move into running. For way too long I have told myself that I'm not a runner, that I don't like running. Well, it's time to be truthful with myself and realize that I have never ran long enough or frequently enough to know if I like to run let alone if it can become a lifestyle. I love the idea of a form of exercise that only requires shoes (check), comfortable clothes (check) and music or book on CD (check) to help bring mental focus away from that nasty little voice, Gordita. It would be something that I can do ANYWHERE. Only downfall is Marley is now just old enough to not be able to join unless we went to a track. I will start putting myself 1st! My health and sanity are waiting for me :)

I am well on my way to the half marathon run for LLS. I need to step up the longer runs on the week-ends to 8-10 miles by the end of Feb. In March I will do more loger runs and increase hill runs. I will need to start practicing carb eating before my runs to get used to that kind of food. RE: Mt. Biking- I have selected the bike. I have the best bike helmet- it's a socially responsbile purchase- a pink one for the breast cancer fundraising.

Today I became a member of Spryliving. Do I have to mention just one sport and if I mention more than one does that mean that I am not focused? Anyway I always backed off from martial arts. The one I want to try is kendo. Other sports I want to try is jujutsu, lacrosse, rugby and bob sledding. #7, 7:57 PM, PST....entered entries in my other blogs

I have done the same occupation for 23 years. I am in desperate need of a change. But the town in which I live is small and isolated; there seems little opportunity. My spouse is not supportive...he says just hang in there, being unhappy with a job is better than being unhappy without a job. I am trying to balance all of this...but I need a change to a job in which I feel valued and that the work I do is worthwhile and contributing. Where to begin?

I want to explore and meet new people.. other people that are POSITIVE Thinkers.. Have a great outlook on life... Be around people who have good goals in life and are Happy People.. I would like to have a buddy system with someone.. to keep going on my new outlook in life... I have come this far... on my own... and I feel Iam at a standstill with motivation... I am getting lots of good commments on my new "sexy" look.. but I need to feel good inside as well..

Fresher produce: It's in the Bag

Make your farmers' market goodies last three to four days longer by making your own produce storage bags. Use a pin to poke about 20 holes in a medium-size zip-top bag. That prevents the build-up of carbon dioxide, which slows the ripening process. read all tips
